STORY

Anna-Magdalena den Herde is known by her great sound and passionate way of playing. Her involvement with the audience has a great influence to share the music.


Anna-Magdalena plays concerts as soloist with orchestras, performing pieces by Walton, Mozart, Berlioz, Shostakovich, Martinu, Bach, Telemann, Hindemith and other pieces. This also involves performing Bach 6th Brandenburg with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in de big hall of Concertgebouw Amsterdam.


She is an active chamber musician, having performed internationally with musicians like violinists Gordan Nicolic, Liza Ferschtman, Alena Baeva, Candida Thompson; cellists Collin Car, Dmitry Ferschtman, Nicolas Altstaedt and Gary Hoffman and Lynn Harrell during Kornberg Chambermusic connects the world.


In 2009, Anna-Magdalena was winner of the Kersjes-prijs, as first violist. She awarded 1st , 2nd and the Public’s prize at the National Amsterdam Viola Competition as well as taking 1st prizes at other competitions.

She was artist in residence during the NJO Musicsummer 2013.


She has participated in masterclasses with many famous musicians all around Europe and summer courses include the Kronberg Academy (chambermusic connects the world) in Germany, and the International Music Academy Switzerland (IMAS) where she had string quartet coachings with Seiji Ozawa.


As an orchestra musician she is second leader of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, based in Amsterdam with Gordan Nicolic as their artistic leader.

She feels a great involvement to play with the musicians of Pynarello Orchestra, a great way of music sharing, playing by heart and enjoy all what music is about.

She has ben invited as guest leader at the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Residentie Orchestra, Philharmonie ZuidNederland and Gelders Okest. As remplacant and second leader she worked at the Concertgebouw Orchestra,Camerata RCO, Rotterdam Philharmonisch Orchestra, Radio Filharmonisch Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta and Asko|Schönberg ensemble. 


She plays an Italian viola built by Marino Capicchioni anno 1965. This is made possible by the Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds (NMF). She owns a bow by

H. Gillet, made possible by Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument.
