Anna-Magdalena den Herder (*1988) violist, is known by her great sound and passionate way of playing. Her involvement with the audience has a great influence to share the music.

Anna-Magdalena plays concerts as soloist with orchestras, performing pieces by Walton, Mozart, Berlioz, Shostakovich, Martinu, Bach, Telemann, Hindemith and other pieces. This also involves performing Bach 6th Brandenburg with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in de big hall of Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

As an active chamber musician, Anna-Magdalena has performed internationally with musicians like violinists Gordan Nicolic, Liza Ferschtman, Alena Baeva, Candida Thompson; cellists Collin Car, Dmitry Ferschtman, Nicolas Altstaedt and many more. She performed with Gary Hoffman and Lynn Harrell during Kronberg Chambermusic Connects the world.

In 2009, Anna-Magdalena was winner of the Kersjes-price, as first violist. She awarded 1st, 2nd and the Public’s prize at the National Amsterdam Viola Competition as well as taking 1st prizes at other competitions. 2013 she has been artist in residence during the NJO Music Summer, a great chance to devise programs and share this with big audience and great musicians.

As an orchestra musician she is second leader of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, based in Amsterdam with Gordan Nicolic as their artistic leader.
She is regularly invited as guest leader at the Netherlands and abroad with Netherlands Philhamornisch Orchestra, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Residentie Orchestra, the Philharmonie Zuid Nederland, Het Gelders Orkest and more.

 

She plays a Italian viola built by Marino Capicchioni 1965 a Rimini, made possible by National Musicinstrument Foundation. Her bow is by H. Gillet, purchase made possible by Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument.
